This weekend I took Roscoe to the groomer because his long coat was getting a little ridiculous. Also, he doesn’t tolerate brushing. So I had them cut his hair short.

However, due to it being winter and cold I thought I should make him a sweater to help keep him warm. So on Sunday morning I quickly reworked a sweater that I don’t wear anymore for my dog. It was quite adorable.

He seemed comfortable and happy, so I put him in his crate and went to church. Well, when I came home from church I found that Roscoe had managed to take the sweater off and had chewed it up….I think next time I attempt to make Roscoe a sweater it should probably not be left on him while he is in his crate.

A few weeks ago I was shopping through the online sales racks on Old Navy and I saw this yellow flannel. It spoke to me, I knew I had to have it.

Are you one of those people who starts out to do one thing and then ends up doing another?

I am. For example, last night I planned on beginning the task of organizing my dual purpose craft/dining room. I figured the best thing to do first was clear away the clutter. I started cleaning up, putting like things together and removing things that didn’t belong. However, it came to a screeching halt when I found the cushion foam I had purchased at Hancock Fabrics several months earlier. Originally intended to make my couch slip cover fit better, I decided to use it to make cushions for the chairs in my dining room instead. So mid cleaning spree last night, I started cutting foam and fabric for my latest project. Which of course lead me to new project ideas today while at work….it is just like When You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

And nothing goes better with good conversation than a good beer.

A lot of the work that I make involves tiny cuts and for the longest time I was just using a simple X-acto with a #2 blade, but it was hard to control. For Christmas my parents got me this bad boy, which is amazing. It fits right over your finger, making it seem like an extension of your body and makes cutting a dream. You can find it at most local craft stores, or online here, here, and here.

After a lengthy email exchange, we settled on homemade pizza as the fare for the evening. We gathered pizza crust, tomato sauce, zucchini, artichoke hearts, olives, spinach, bacon, and chicken. You will have to forgive me because I forgot to take pictures until after we had made the crust, and prepped all the ingredients.

We made the pizza crust from packets from Kroger, and while the crust rose we prepared the bacon and all the other toppings. When the crust was ready, we divided it into two balls. My friend only has one baking sheet, so we made a baking sheet out of aluminum foil. To make your own baking sheet out of aluminum foil, just take a large piece of foil and fold it in half. Then fold up the edges. I don’t recommend cooking anything really heavy on this makeshift tray, but it was perfect for pizza. We spread the dough out on the sheets and began piling on the toppings.

First, we added some tomato sauce straight from the can, and seasoned it with salt, pepper, garlic salt and oregano.

Then we added olives, zucchini and spinach.

Then we liberally sprinkled on chicken, bacon and artichoke hearts.

Here is the pizza before we added the cheese. We used mozzarella and an Italian blend.

To go with the pizza, we made a simple salad of arugula, spinach, tomato, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, cucumber and parmesan.

And I didn’t remember to take pictures of the finished pizza because I was so hungry, and wanted to eat immediately. We finished our delicious meal with a screening of Ides of March.

This past weekend, I made myself a great breakfast.

First, I gathered my ingredients: two eggs, an orange, guacamole, and spinach sautéed with bacon and shallots.

Then I whisked the eggs until they were well blended.

Then I melted some ghee in a nonstick pan.

After the ghee melted, I poured the eggs into the pan.

Then I waited for the eggs to become firm enough to flip.

After flipping the omelette, you can add whatever you wanted to put in the middle. For this omelette, I used the spinach and shallots from earlier.

Fold the omelette in half and put it on a plate with your oranges.

I live in a cute little apartment with my fuzzy companion Roscoe.
